Itinerary

The journey begins with a drive from Kathgodam to Khati, a beautiful village in the Kumaon region. The drive, though long, offers scenic views of the mountains, rivers, and lush forests. Khati, located at an altitude of 2,210 meters, is the last inhabited village en route to Mt. Bhanoti. It is known for its warm hospitality and traditional Kumaoni culture. Upon arrival, take some time to explore the village and acclimatize to the altitude.

The trek officially begins with a short but scenic hike from Khati to Jatoli. The trail takes you through dense forests, alongside the Pindari River, and offers occasional glimpses of snow-capped peaks. The trek is moderate, with a gradual ascent, making it an ideal start to the journey. Jatoli, at 2,440 meters, is a small settlement surrounded by lush greenery and offers a peaceful environment for an overnight stay.

The trek from Jatoli to Kathelia is more challenging, with a significant gain in altitude. The trail passes through thick forests, across streams, and over rocky terrain. As you ascend, the landscape changes, and you are greeted with stunning views of the surrounding valleys and peaks. Kathelia, situated at 2,950 meters, is a serene campsite nestled amidst the mountains, offering a perfect spot to rest and acclimatize.

On Day 4, the trail takes you from Kathelia to Devikund, a sacred high-altitude lake. The trek is steep and demanding, with a considerable altitude gain. As you ascend, the vegetation becomes sparse, and the terrain becomes more rugged. Devikund, at 4,360 meters, is a beautiful and tranquil lake surrounded by towering peaks. The campsite near the lake offers a peaceful retreat and stunning views of the surrounding mountains.

The trek from Devikund to Camp 1 is a gradual ascent through rocky terrain and snowfields. The altitude increases significantly, making this part of the trek more challenging. Camp 1, located at 4,880 meters, is the base camp for the Mt. Bhanoti summit attempt. The campsite offers panoramic views of the surrounding peaks and serves as a preparation point for the final ascent to the summit.

The most thrilling day of the trek involves an early morning start for the summit attempt of Mt. Bhanoti. The climb is steep and requires careful navigation through snow and ice. As you ascend, the air becomes thinner, and the climb becomes more challenging. However, the sense of accomplishment and the breathtaking views from the summit make the effort worthwhile. After spending some time at the summit, soaking in the panoramic views, you will descend back to Camp 1.

After the exhilarating summit day, the trek from Camp 1 back to Kathelia is a long but rewarding journey. The descent is gradual, and the trail takes you back through the familiar landscapes of rocky terrains and alpine meadows. The day is long, but the sense of achievement and the beautiful surroundings keep you motivated. Upon reaching Kathelia, you can rest and enjoy the serene environment.

The trek from Kathelia to Jatoli is a gradual descent through the lush forests and along the Pindari River. The trail is relatively easier compared to the previous days, allowing you to enjoy the natural beauty of the region. Jatoli offers a comfortable stopover, where you can relax and reflect on the incredible journey you have undertaken.

The final day of the trek involves a short hike from Jatoli to Khati, followed by a drive to Bageshwar. The trek is easy, with a gradual descent through forests and along the river. Once you reach Khati, a vehicle will be waiting to take you back to Bageshwar. The drive offers a chance to relax and enjoy the scenic beauty of the Kumaon region. Upon reaching Bageshwar, you can explore the town or simply rest after the long journey.

The journey concludes with a drive from Bageshwar to Kathgodam. This 6-hour drive takes you through the beautiful landscapes of Uttarakhand, offering a final glimpse of the mountains and valleys you’ve explored over the past days. Upon reaching Kathgodam, you can catch your train or bus back home, carrying with you memories of an unforgettable adventure in the Himalayas.
