Your adventure begins with a scenic drive from Kathgodam to Gogina, passing through the charming town of Bageshwar. The 230 km journey takes around 10 to 11 hours, winding through the picturesque Kumaon region. The drive offers stunning views of the lush valleys, terraced fields, and distant snow-capped peaks. Upon reaching Gogina, you will spend the night in a comfortable campsite, preparing for the trek ahead.
The trek begins with a 6 km journey from Gogina to Namik Village. This trek involves a descent to the Ramganga River, followed by a steep ascent through dense forests. The trail offers a blend of natural beauty and cultural immersion as you make your way to Namik Village, which is known for its ancient temples and warm hospitality. The campsite is set between the village and the temple, providing a serene atmosphere for rest.
The trek from Namik Village to Bajiamana is a moderately challenging ascent, covering 7 km over 4 to 5 hours. As you gain altitude, the landscape transitions from dense forests to more open terrains, offering panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Bajiamana, located at an altitude of 2,900 meters, is a beautiful campsite surrounded by pristine nature, where you can rest and acclimatize.
Today’s trek takes you from Bajiamana to Chuphu, a journey that combines forest trails and meadow walks. The trail initially winds through meadows before entering a dense Rhododendron forest. A steep climb near Thal Tok offers spectacular views of the Himalayan mountain range, including the Nanda Devi massif. Chuphu, at an altitude of 3,500 meters, is the perfect spot to set up camp and enjoy the tranquil surroundings.
Summit day is the highlight of the trek, taking you to the top of Ranthan Kharak at 3,930 meters. Start early to witness the sunrise over the Nanda Devi range, a sight that is both awe-inspiring and unforgettable. The ascent to Ranthan Top is challenging, with steep sections and ridge walks, but the panoramic views from the summit are worth every effort. After spending time at the summit, you will descend back to Chuphu for the night.
Begin your return journey by trekking from Chuphu to Namik Village. This descent offers a chance to revisit the beautiful landscapes you passed on the way up, with plenty of opportunities to capture stunning photos and soak in the tranquility of the region. Upon reaching Namik, you may wish to explore the village further, interacting with the friendly locals and learning about their unique culture and traditions.
The final day of trekking takes you from Namik Village back to Gogina. This short trek allows you to reflect on the journey as you make your way through the familiar trails. Upon reaching Gogina, a vehicle will be waiting to drive you to Bageshwar. The drive offers a relaxing conclusion to your trek, with scenic views of the Kumaon region.
The journey concludes with a drive from Bageshwar to Kathgodam. This 165 km drive takes around 7 hours, offering a final opportunity to enjoy the beautiful landscapes of Uttarakhand. Upon arrival in Kathgodam, you can catch your train or bus back home, bringing with you memories of an unforgettable adventure in the Himalayas.
